!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I asked on the front page, but have there been any advancements in battery tech in say the last 10 years? I've never seen them as feasible, and almost a stumbling block for human advancement. Once we can master a small but long duration power source there won't be much besides politics holding back the human race. Someone needs to get one of those Terminator hearts stat.
edit: how do you post to two different blogs at the same time? Trying to post on Observation deck as well.
edit part deux: thanks Nobody

Cell Phones in 1990:
Cell Phones today:
So... yeah. I think battery technology has improved :p
(Hilariously, that second one is made by a company called, I shit you not, "Oppo")

I wonder how much of that was the battery? Probably different composition as well like nicad or nimh.

That's still improvement. Think of the huge NiCD batteries vs. modern Lithium-based units.
And it was mostly the battery. We knew how to make small electronics back then.
There are also several promising avenues in biological energy storage, supercapacitors, etc...

They might be smaller, but still no huge advancement in duration of charge. Lithium Ion is the best we got, and I think that has been around since the 80's or so just prohibitively expensive until recently. Supercapacitors are awesome though.

Hey, give me back my phone!
